I think I shot these on a day out in 2019. We were walking to a tapas afternoon tea brunch hybrid (which was as weird as it sounds) someone bought us as a wedding present and I snapped some photos on the way.

I don’t have this Leica M2 anymore, but when I look back on photos like this, I remember how much I enjoyed just walking around and shooting street photography. It had no light meter, and the rangefinder took a little time to get used to, but once I got the hang of it, it was a really satisfying way to take photos. I only sold it because, at the time, I didn’t have much money, and carrying around nearly £1,000 worth of camera gear made it hard to relax when traveling. I’m not sure I’d be as concerned these days, especially since I travel less, but I do miss it sometimes.
I still have a couple of film cameras left and I do the majority of my analog photography with an Olympus OM-2N. You’ll see a bunch of photos from that camera on this blog in the coming weeks.

Portra 400 is a great film for this kind of shooting, too. It handles different lighting conditions well, has natural colors, and gives a nice balance between warmth and detail. I shot this roll at box speed, because I find 400 gives me enough speed to shoot in a few different lighting conditions.

This kind of photography is why I’ve just relaunched this blog. Over the last few years I’ve stopped shooting so many photos, other than pictures of my two kids and I want to have a creative outlet to share photos and motivate me to take more. So here we are. More to come, I’ll try and blog once a week from this point on.
